Kevin Lam

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Oxford, supervised by Yee Whye Teh and George Deligiannidis, and supported by a Google DeepMind PhD Scholarship.

Prior to my PhD, I spent six years in ML engineering, data science and analytics, and statistical modelling roles. During this time, I also earned my master’s degrees in mathematics and information technology at the University of New South Wales, while working on learning proper scoring rules with Christian Walder, Spiridon Penev, and Richard Nock.

Research Interests

My research interests lie in sampling, optimisation, and generative modelling, with a recent focus on diffusion models. I have previously worked on gradient estimation and loss learning.
